John Henik Jr.

John was born and raised in Youngstown, Ohio. He graduated from high school in 1952 and joined the Air Force and served until 1956. While stationed at Forbes Air Force Base in Topeka, Ks, John met the love of his life, Mary Jo Fritton.

John and Mary were married Nov. 13 of 1954 and raised 3 children, John Robert in 1956, Roxann Marie in 1958 and David Lee in 1960

John worked as a salesman for several different retail companies, including the Fuller Brush Company and Macy's, in the Kansas City area, until he settled into new car sales where he worked for several Kansas City dealerships over the years. He retired from sales and ended up working as a dealer for Ameristar Casino.

John was devout in his faith and was referred to as "Father John" by some of his Air Force buddies as he went around Sunday mornings waking them up for Mass. He and Mary loved saying the daily Rosary together every morning. He brought holiday smiles to many in the neighborhood with his outdoor Christmas lights and decorations.

John was preceded in death by his parents, wife Mary Jo, brother Richard, and daughter Roxann.

He is survived by sons Rob (wife Denise), and David (wife Kelly), 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Services will be on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at St Bernadette Catholic Parish 9020 E 51st Terrace, Kansas City, MO 64133. Visitation at 9am, Rosary at 10am and funeral mass to begin at 1030am. Committal Service to follow at Mt Olivet Catholic Cemetery 7601 Blue Ridge Blvd. Raytown, MO 64138.
