John "Jack" E. Justice finally had his heart give out Friday, July 1, 2016, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, Ill. Jack was born on Oct. 2, 1927 to John A. and Inez Justice in Kansas City, Kansas. He had one sister, Margaret Smith, wife of Charles Smith. All preceded him in death. Jack married Jacqueline (Jackie) L. Wiant on Sept. 5, 1950, in Jacksonville, Ill., at Our Savior's Church. They had two sons, Jay (Mary Alice), Springfield, Ill., and John who also predeceased him.
Jack was a lifelong resident of Kansas City and Kansas until he and his wife moved to Springfield in 2014 to be near his son and daughter-in-law. He served in the United States Army and was stationed at Fort Belvoir outside Washington, DC. Jack was always a salesman, and traveled across many states in the Midwest representing drapery fabrics to interior designers and drapery shops. He referred to himself as a "rag peddler." After his retirement, both he and Jackie were volunteers at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, Mo. Jack worked in the cath lab waiting area and was always willing to share the story of his heart surgeries.
He is also survived by grandchildren, Sarah (Adam Davis) Justice, Patrick (Jenny) Justice (Jenny), Anne Justice, Jenna (Mark) Turner and Jamie (Chad) Reynolds. His beloved great-grandchildren are Mason and Maggie Justice Davis, Liam Turner, and Brayden and Corinne Reynolds.
