John Gregory Meade

John Gregory Meade, 97, passed away January 11, 2015. Mass of Christian Burial 10am Thurs., Jan. 15th at Our Lady of the Presentation, 130 NW Murray Rd., Lee’s Summit, MO; with visitation and rosary from 9-10am. Burial to follow in Leavenworth National Cemetery.

John was born September 7, 1917 in Cumming, IA to Joseph & Ella Meade. He owned and lived on the family farm in Madison Co., IA until 1964. John was a WWII veteran of the Merchant Marines. He retired from General Services Administration after 20 years. John was a devout and active member of the Kansas City St. Joseph Catholic Diocese for over 50 years.

John was married for 58 years to Anna Meade, who died in 2003. He is survived by his brother, Fr. Denis Meade, OSB; his children, Kathleen Meade, Rosalie Yount (Ron), Mary Theresa Franks, William Meade, Michael Meade (Dede), Martha Contreras, Robert Meade (Debbie), Virginia Meade, Marita Gale, Dan Meade, Carol Meade & Gregory Meade; 41 grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as many friends.
