John Edwin Shiddell passed away on July 23, 2023 at KC Hospice house surrounded with love by his family. He was born in 1937, and went to Central High School where he met his wife, Rosalie. They were married on September 14, 1957 and were together for 55 years.
He served his country in the United States Navy. After his time was served he came home and worked at Pepsi Cola General Bottlers for 22 years. Having the work ethics and his commitment to the company, he worked his way up from a delivery driver to the Lead of the Marketing Team. After all his hard work and with the knowledge that he gained, he finally decided to step out on faith and become an entrepreneur. He left Pepsi and opened up his company, Anchor Insurance Agency with his son John, whom is continuing the legacy to this day.
John and Rosalie always put God at the head of their lives. They were dedicated members of Loma Vista Baptist Church for many years. John was a Deacon and the church treasurer. He also loved singing in the church choir. He always gave back to his community by sharing the word of God with others and volunteering his time with REAP and Hope Network out of Connection Point Church in Raytown.
One of his passions was to play golf with many of his good long-time friends. If he was not golfing, he would be on deck and in tune with his two favorite teams; The Kansas City Royals and The Kansas City Chiefs.
John is survived by his children, Debe (Ken) Frayling of Lee’s Summit, Bonnie (Rick) Simpson of Lee’s Summit, and John (Sheri) Shiddell of Kansas City. He is also survived by his ten grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Rosalie, and his parents Edwin and Mary Shiddell.
He will be sorely missed by his faithful canine companion buddy, Benny II.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in John’s honor to Hope Network of Raytown or Wayside Waifs.
