John Barker Winter Jr.

Our beloved father, passed away peacefully on July 26th 2026 at the age of 84. He served in the army from September 1961 through May of 1965. A man who took great pride in his work, John was a remarkably talented Craftsman. He mastered woodworking and devoted years to drywall, and sheet metal work, learning to perfect every detail.. A dedicated Union man and loyal employee John spent so many years with his company, that it changed hands three times before he retired. The black belt he received in Korea while serving, carried discipline and strength throughout his life. Inspiring nine of his offspring to carry on the tradition, earning black belts of their own. He went back to his training after retiring, earning an additional black belt. Martial arts have become an important part of his legacy. John is remembered for his kind heart and warmth- he never knew a stranger. His laughter was infectious, and his smile had a way of lighting up any room. He always wanted to share a story, taking time to help people understand a deeper wisdom. He had a unique habit of collecting the most random things-shopping bags, rubber bands and hammers. He never had just one of anything; instead gathering multiples of everything that caught his eye. He loved to tinker with his clocks and watches. As an animal lover especially of dogs of all sizes, the family request that donations in lieu of flowers be made to Wayside Waifs.

John is survived by his ex wife and companion, Carolyn Eldridge, his four children, (spouses), John Barker Winter (111), (Ludmilla), Dawn Adams, (Kevin) David Winter, (Crystal) Laura Maschler, (Dominic)

Along with their 10 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. We will Celebrate his life on August 22nd. Details to come.

We will miss him deeply, but cherish the moments we had with him.
