Jon Ronald Sanders Jr.

April 8, 1966July 28, 2019

Jon Ronald Sanders Jr. passed away on Sunday, July 28, 2019 at the age of 53. Jon was born on April 8, 1966 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Jon Sr. (Known as Ron to everyone) and Ann (Collins) Sanders. Jon is survived by his son, Sean McCann Sanders, his mother Ann, his father Ron, his sister Jennie Chambon and her husband Greg Chambon and their children, Hallie, Gregory and Clayton Chambon, Carrie Williamson, his beloved better half for 9 years, with whom he loved with all of his heart and soul.

Jon graduated from Nease High-School in 1984 in Jacksonville, Florida. Jon then went on to attend and graduate from Florida State University. Jon had a passion for life, for playing practical jokes, and being very quick witted. He loved dogs, playing golf with anyone, especially his Dad. Jon loved walking around a Hallmark Card store just finding cards that would make someone laugh, especially the ones that made him laugh out loud in the card store, or ones that would give encouragement to someone else. Jon was an avid football fan, especially watching his beloved Florida State Seminoles! Jon loved Florida. It was in Florida that he was his happiest, and always had the hopes of returning to Florida to live and retire. Jon loved the Ocean; it was the look and sound of the Ocean that gave Jon peace. For many years Jon fought the demons of alcoholism. He fought a very hard fight, one that at one point in his life was thought to have been beat. However, the disease had a very powerful hold on him. The disease of addiction is merciless. It is up to us to open our minds and hearts to those that are still sick and suffering from addiction. Jon would not want anyone to feel sad for him. Jon would want us to fight for others that suffer from this disease, not enable them. The disease kept Jon from knowing his son; however, it was his son Sean that proudly fought to honor his father’s last wishes.

In his final days of life, Jon was still doing acts of kindness. He installed his Mother’s Washer and Dryer and did all of her laundry. He made his Beautiful Carrie Brats & Garlic bread, and changed all the light bulbs for her. He bought her ice cream and had many wonderful talks, watched movies and spent time together.

To honor Jon, he would only want another person to do an act of kindness. • If you drink and drive-STOP. • Write a letter to someone and tell them, how they have had a positive effect on your life. • Turn off the electronics and take a kid out for ice cream and talk about their dreams and hopes or just listen. • Forgive someone who doesn’t deserve it. • Make someone smile today if it is in your power to do so.

If you are struggling with any addiction, do not be afraid to ask for help or seek help for your disease.

I knew Jon through my sons. Jon was a charmer but he had a lot of demons inside. This obituary is a wonderful tribute to a lovely soul. God Bless everyone that loved him.
