Joseph J. Brocato
August 25, 1933 – November 28, 2012
Joseph J. Brocato, 79, passed away Wednesday, November 28, 2012. Visitation will be held Friday, November 30th at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 11822 Holmes, Kansas City, MO, from 4:30 to 8:00 p.m., where the Rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, December 1st, 10:00 a.m., at St. Thomas More, with burial following in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Kansas City, MO. Joseph was born August 25, 1933, in Kansas City, Missouri. He served in the United States Army. He founded City Wide Remodelers in 1955. He was a member of St. Thomas More Church and was involved with their St. Joseph Table. He was also a member of Kansas City Home Improvement Council which is now NARI. Joe was involved in many organizations, including Member and past President of UNICO, Elks Club, Executive Investment Club, Breakfast at 8, Rumba Club, Camporealese Club, and Honorary Warrior in the Tribe of Mic-o-say. In 1990, Joe founded Friends of Special People. He played Santa Claus for 25 mentally and physically challenged children. The party has grown each year. Through his love and devotion with many dedicated volunteers, this year the party will include 1200 children and adults at the Downtown Muehlbach. Joe enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He never met a stranger. His great heart and quick wit will be deeply missed. Joe was preceded in death by: his parents, Tony and Josephine Brocato; brother, Sam Brocato; and sister-in-law, JoAnn Ferro. He is survived by: his devoted wife Frances (Cannova) Brocato of 56 years; children:, son, Michael Brocato (wife Fran); daughter, Michelle Mangiaracina (husband George); daughter, Rose Marie Browne (husband Rob); and grandchildren: Michael Jr. (wife Natalie), Kristin (fiancé Justin Boehm), Daniel and Matthew Brocato, Nicholas and Nicole Mangiaracina, Taylor and Blake Browne; sister and brother-in-laws, Joanne Brocato, Joe V and JoAnn Cannova, Nate Cannova, Jim and Mary Jane Ferro and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Pallbearers: Michael Jr., Daniel and Matthew Brocato, Nicholas Mangiaracina, Blake Browne, Justin Boehm, and cousins Joe Mike and Sal Ray. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Friends of Special People, 9736 Wornall Road, Kansas City, Missouri 64114.

Prayers and Love are sent out to the family. I just found out about Joe's passing, Just remembering all the times Joe an Frances would come into the Dr's office and Joe would "entertain us all" so many smiles remembering those times. We here at Medical Plaza love you and are praying for you...

We so much enjoyed visiting with Joe each time we met him. He always has been a true friend. We enjoyed his humor, and the enthusiasm he showed for all of the projects he was involved with. His presence will be greatly missed.

For 2 years(1960-1962) my wife & I rented the downstairs of a house on Windsor in the Northest area. Joe & Francis lived upstairs. Nicer people I have never known. They were the best landlords and friends a young couple could have. Joe will be missed. I have great memories of those years.
