Joseph B. Chaszar, 76, of Independence, MO passed away Saturday, September 15, 2012. A celebration of life will be held at the McGilley & Sheil Chapel on Thursday, September 20, 2012 from 1-2pm with funeral service at 2pm. Joe was born December 19, 1936 in Kansas City, MO. He retired after 30 years of employment with the federal government; serving nine years in the United States Navy & then with the Dept. of Agriculture. He was a member of the Retirees of the USS Kitty Hawk & volunteered his time at the Veteran’s Hospital of Kansas City for many years. Joe loved fishing & caring for birds while spending time at Joe’s Lazy Acres at Ruby Lake. He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph W. & Nellie Chaszar, Jr. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Ruby; two sons, Joe (Diane) and Jim (Jean) Chaszar; daughter, Denise Brosch; two step-sons, Keith and Kevin Holmes; nine grandchildren & two great grandchildren.
