Being part of a military family, Joe lived in various locations, graduating from Damien High School in Honolulu, Hawaii. The family eventually settled in Grandview, Missouri. Joe joined the United States Navy, February 1967, where he was a Radio Operator, serving on the USS Coontz. During his tour of duty, Joe received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign ribbon. He was honorably discharged in 1970, and returned to Grandview, Missouri.
Joe worked and retired from Sears Catalog Warehouse after 25 years of service. For fun, Joe became a licensed dealer at the Flamingo Casino, in Kansas City, where he never met a stranger. During the baseball season, he also worked as a ticket taker for the Kansas City Royals Baseball Organization. Joe was an avid Royals and Kansas City Chiefs fan, however, his absolute favorite football team was the Washington Redskins. He and Paula enjoyed spending time at their favorite restaurant, Texas Roadhouse, in Belton, Missouri, where they made "forever friends".
Joe married Paula Feltner, in April 1981, in Grandview, Missouri and were happily married for over 40 years.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Donald H. Lindstrom and Marian E. Lindstrom.
He is survived by his wife Paula; sister Donna Cook (Dan), brother David H. Lindstrom (Sandy); Uncle Jim and Aunt Ruth Ann Lindstrom, Green Forest, Arkansas.; Nieces Clare Padron, Dickenson, Texas; Lura McClenney, Jennifer Wallace, and Stacey Rothwell all from the Kansas City, Missouri area; Janie Bogar, Belton, Missouri; Nephews Lucas Cook, Austin, Texas; David Scott Lindstrom, Lee's Summit, Missouri, and many cousins, great nieces and nephews.
A Visitation for Joseph will be held Wednesday, January 26, 2022 from 1:00pm to 2:00pm at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, MO 64131. A Celebration of his Life will follow at 2:00pm. A Committal Service with full military honors will follow in Mount Moriah Cemetery South.
