Joe was born July 8, 1957 to Raymond and Rosemary Tipton in Kansas City. He graduated from Winnetonka High School in 1976.
During his high school years, he met Carolyn Tackett. They worked together at Woolco in Kansas City. He was transferred to Texas and Carolyn joined him. One year later they came back to Missouri ,and shortly thereafter eloped and got married in Miami, Ok in March of 1978. 17 months later they had their first son Jason and the rest of the kids quickly followed.
Joe was a dedicated union worker in the automotive industry, and the type of employee that any company would be proud to call their own. He exhibited compassion, dedication, and most importantly attendance. He would pick up as many extra shifts as possible to meet the needs of his company, and rarely took any vacation days. He was a leader in the warehouse, and made his presence known in a positive way.
Joe was an avid Kansas City fan. His pride in Kansas City sports teams was well known amongst his family, friends, and colleagues. He loved listening to old country music, and would pull out his guitar and play is own music. He loved just being outside. Yard work, outdoor projects, and even going to the Lake of the Ozarks took up some of his free time. Most importantly he was a family man. He loved spending time with all his family and made sure everyone was always having a great time!
He is survived by his 2 siblings, Debbie Newton, Alan Tipton, ex wife, Carolyn Rodgers; along with his 4 children Jason and Natalie Tipton of Las Vegas, Joshaua and Ashley Tipton of Holt, Missouri, Jeffrey and Emily Tipton of Baltimore, Maryland, Julie and Kristopher Scrivener of Leavenworth, Ks; 4 grandchildren, Aliyah Scrivener, Gunner Scrivener, Blake Tipton, and Jace Tipton.

It is with sadden hearts we are unable to attend the service for Joe! We will always remember him as a big part of the “Manchester Gang “ ! Many childhood memories for our family included the Tipton family ! Joe was always the one with the mischievous grin and easy personality ! A reunion is planned for this summer to reunite and rediscover these memories and we were so looking forward to a visit with him again ! God had another plan and I’m sure it was to give him peace from the pain, but we will always remember the cute little guy that loved to tease the girls !
Sending hugs and love to all of you with our deepest sympathy !
