

Josefina Guzman, 92 of Kansas City, MO, died September 24, 2017. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 29, 2017 at Nativity of The Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 10017 E. 36th Terrace, Independence, MO. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday, September 28, 2017 at McGilley Midtown Chapel, 20 W. Linwood Blvd., Kansas City, MO, where the Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m.
Josefina was born November 14, 1924 in Guanajuato, Mexico to Clemente Yepez and Angelina Calderon Yepez. Josefina and her husband, Ricardo, came to the United States in 1953. In addition to raising nine children, she worked as a cook for Las Chiquitas Mexican Restaurant for 20 years. Josephine was preceded in death by her husband in 1985; a son, Eugene Guzman and a daughter, Teresa Ruiz, her brother, Benito Yepez and sister Soledad Yepez. Josefina’s survivors include four daughters, Ramona Arce (Joe); Patsy Davila (Robert [Deceased]); Mary Lopez (Robert); Margaret Ruiz (Alonzo); and three sons, Lupe Guzman (Elaine); Richard M. Guzman; and Raymond Guzman, all of the Kansas City area; 11 grandchildren, and many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
