Joshuah Emmanuel (Josh) Wassmer, 25, of Overland Park, Kansas, a devoted son, brother, nephew, cousin, uncle and cherished friend, entered eternal life with Jesus on December 2, 2012. Josh was born on March 2, 1987 in Overland Park, Kansas, the son of Paul and Becky Wassmer. He was a 2005 graduate of Olathe East High School where he lettered two years in soccer and four years in tennis. His second place finish in doubles at the State Tournament in 2005 remains the highest finish in school history. Josh is the all-time most winning player in Olathe East boy’s tennis history to date. Josh was preceded into eternal life by his grandmother Barbara Bauer and by his grandfathers Larry Wassmer and Lane Bauer. He is survived by his grandmothers Joyce Wassmer and Sandra Bauer, parents Paul and Becky, sister Crystal Ford and spouse Edward Ford, sister Alicia Lietz, sister Shauna Wassmer, brother Jeremy Wassmer and brother Paul Michael Wassmer. He is also survived by many uncles, aunts, cousins, nephews, nieces and devoted friends including Nancy and John Terwilliger, Steve and Amy Bauer, Dan and Heidi Bauer, Mark and Spica Wassmer, David and Cindy Wassmer, Mark and Mary Kettler, Kathy Healey, Jessica Thoden, Michael and Courtney Thoden, Laura Thoden, Katie Thoden, Christine and Sean Rees, Elizabeth Healey, Matt and Ali Terwilliger, Carolyn Terwilliger, Skyler Wassmer, Deirra Wassmer, Katie Bauer, Billy Bauer, Sydney Bauer, Erin Amaya, Jennifer Wassmer, Jacob Wassmer, Aaron Lietz, Mariah Lietz, Christian Lietz, Lea Ford, Eli Ford, Noah Ford, Aniah Terwilliger, Aikem Terwilliger, Braden Thoden, Mason Thoden, and P.J. and Morgan Evans. Josh had obtained a health and life insurance license and was finishing a degree in business at Emporia State University. He was currently employed at Freedom Financial. A celebration of Josh’s life will be held Friday, December 7th, from 5:30-9:00 p.m. at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road. Rosary will be prayed at 12:15 p.m. Saturday, December 8th, followed by a memorial service at 1:00 p.m. at Church of the Ascension Catholic Church, 9510 W. 127th Street, Overland Park, Kansas. Committal service will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday at Mt. Moriah Cemetery South.
