

Jowilla Jean Staples, 92, of Kansas City, MO, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2016, surrounded by daughter, Karan, and family. Jowilla was born in Southwest City, MO, to Roy and Carrie Edwards, and lived a long, healthy, happy and blessed life. Jowilla was a devout Christian who gave her life to serving God and serving friends, family and those in need. Jowilla was preceded in death by husbands; J.T. Battenberg, Jr., Allen C. Staples; son, Roy Kevan Staples, and sister, Twila J. Roller. After attending business college, Jowilla worked at Stonecroft Ministries as well as the family plumbing business. She was very active in the Christian Women’s Club, her church, American Legion Auxiliary and as a volunteer at Truman Medical Center. She was an avid Bridge and Pitch player. Survivors include her children: J.T. Battenberg III and his wife, Luann; Gary Battenberg and his wife Judy; Darla Staples; and Karan Garrison and her husband Gregg; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren, who put many smiles on her face. Funeral service will be 10am, Tuesday, August 30, 2016, at Floral Hills, with visitation beginning at 9am. Private family burial.
