

She married Matthew Jerome Gardner on July 2, 1955. They had two children, Shirley Jo (Gardner) Long (Cliff) and Oscar Jerome Gardner (Debra, deceased).
She was preceded in death by her husband Matthew, her parents, and five of her sisters, and one brother. Hazel Green, Lillie Souza, Cordilla Reed, Mary Gilmore, Betty Fox, and Harry Wells. As well as one grandson, Jerome Clifford Long.
She has two remaining siblings, Dorothy Vantellman and Bob Wells, both of Schell City, Missouri.
Several nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews.
June graduated from High School at Schell City, Missouri where she lived all of her early years.
June was a section supervisor at the IRS in Kansas City where she retired, she also worked for SEars and Roebuck as an order filler (the old Sears on Cleveland Avenue).
She and Matt enjoyed square dancing, they were Youth Advisors to Lads and Lassies Square Dance Club where all of the kids loved them and called them "Mom and Dad". They belonged to The Thunderbirds Square Dancing Club and Harpers Hoppers Square Dance Club where they were club presidents and Visitor Chairpersons, where they scheduled visitations to other clubs in the Kansas City area. They also belonged to the Carousel Round Dance Club. They enjoyed line and round dancing.
She and Matt enjoyed the flowers in the yard and did have the prettiest yard on the block.
They loved to travel, they took several vacations and saw many sites, all by car.
June also loved to sew, she made all of her Square Dance Dresses, and many for others as well, she loved to make quilts, and made several for her grandkids, she also crocheted.
She loved her grandkids, Michael gardner (Bayley), Matthew Long, Jerome Long (Julie), Lindsay Starbuck (Josh), and Jarret Gardner (Tatiana). She had eight great grandchildren; Kelleigh (Nexus), Lydia (Dae) Camden, Ethan, Memphis, Teigan, Connor, Emma and one on the way.
She lived at Elliot Place Retirement Apartments and moved there in 2007; she enjoyed activities and had many friends. She lived there until her passing.
A visitation for Juanita will be held Friday, July 25, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Floral Hills Funeral Home and Cemetery, 7000 BLUE RIDGE BLVD, KANSAS CITY, MO 64133.
A funeral service will occur Saturday, July 26, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, 7000 BLUE RIDGE BLVD, KANSAS CITY, MO 64133.
A graveside service will occur Saturday, July 26, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM, 7000 BLUE RIDGE BLVD, KANSAS CITY, MO 64133.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kansas City Hospice & Palliative Care.
