Judith Brown Lillis died Friday, June 12th at home with her husband, family and beloved dog Manley by her side. Dan and Judy were brought together 40 wonderful years ago. When asked how long they had been married, Dan Said, “not long enough”.
Born to Erwin and Ruth Brown on August 27th in Penn Yan, New York, Judy grew up on a vineyard in the Finger Lakes. Graduating from Cornell in Ithaca, NY, Judy began her career in Boston Filene’s. At Macy’s, Judy had a successful career including positions as sportswear buyer, Indian Springs Store Manager, and Fashion Director. Her last position at Macy’s was Vice President for Merchandising where she traveled the world, including Italy, France, Hong Kong and Korea for stores in Missouri, Kansas and Ohio.
Perhaps, the most important things top remember about Judy’s time at Macy’s are the many friends she made. Some of these people journeyed across the country to see Judy she was home from her hospital stay. It was a close group of women and their partners who have worked and played together for years.
Judy’s life will celebrated later with much dark chocolate and good red wine, laughter and love.
Dan suggests donations in Judy’s name to the Arts Center of Yates County in Penn Yan, NY where Ruth, Judy’s mother was a long-time contributor or to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
