Judy Lyman, 75, of Raymore, Missouri, passed away on October 14, 2015 at the Kansas City Hospice House following a long bout with cancer. Judy was born June 8, 1940 to Treesa and Howard Smith in Kansas City, Missouri. She attended Center High School and graduated with the class of 1958. She married William H. Remy, Jr. that same year and they had two children. William died in a tragic accident at home and she was widowed until 1965 when she met and married Charles F. Lyman. Together they had three more children. They celebrated 50 years of marriage on May 29th of this year, by returning to the chapel at Country Club Christian Church where they were wed.
In 1971 Judy and the family of five children began moving with her husband’s career transfers to various locations in Massachusetts, Michigan, California, Oklahoma and then back to Rochester Hills, Michigan for twenty years whereupon they retired to Naples, Florida. They returned to Missouri to help care for her mother and Chuck’s mother in 2005. Here she found her beloved dog, Hershey.
In Kansas City they became active members of the United Methodist Church of the Resurrection and Judy was a member of the bulletin stuffer’s team. She loved to bring goodies for everyone to eat. Judy was an avid golfer and a member of the Women’s Golf Leagues at St. Andrews and Sikes-Lady Golf courses in Overland Park, Kansas. She worked tirelessly on their special events and loved to obtain prize donations to support them.
The loves of her life were her five children and twelve grandchildren. She treated all of them equally and never missed an opportunity to celebrate special occasions with them. She never met a stranger and would do anything she could for friends as well as family. She made the world a better place just by being in it.
