Judith "Judy" Elaine Mayer passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 8, 2026, at the age of 79. Born in Kansas City, Missouri, to Wilson E. and Monty E. Redman, Judy grew up in Prairie Village, Kansas. She graduated with honors from Shawnee Mission East High School before attending the University of Kansas, where she earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.
After graduation, Judy embarked on an exciting chapter in New York City, working as a commercial artist—a bold and formative experience for a young woman from the Midwest. In 1972, following the unexpected passing of her mother, Judy returned to Prairie Village to be with her father. She initially joined the art department at Gill Studios before transitioning to Macy’s Midwest, where her talent and dedication led her to the role of Art Director
In 1977, Judy met the love of her life, Roland "Pete" Mayer. They married in 1980 and shared over 45 wonderful years of marriage, filled with mutual devotion and the company of their beloved Yorkies. Judy managed their household with grace and was the steadfast backbone of Pete’s many business endeavors.
In 1985, the couple moved to a home on the 9th fairway of Blue Hills Country Club, sparking Judy’s lifelong passion for golf. A dedicated member of the club since 1986, she was a fixture in the 9 and 18-hole leagues and couples’ golf. Judy’s natural leadership and organizational skills shone as she served as President of the 18-hole league and participated in the Country Club District and Interclub Senior Women’s Golf Associations. She held leadership positions in those Associations as well. An accomplished player, she celebrated three career holes-in-one. Beyond the game itself, Judy cherished the deep, lasting friendships she formed on the course
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Wilson and Monty Redman; her uncles, Charlie and Ken Redman (Betty); and her cousins, David and Kenny Redman; and her Yorkies, Fergie and Pepper. She is survived by her husband, Pete; her cousins, Kathy Barrett and Mark Redman (Noriko); and her cherished Yorkies, Peanut and Nugget. Judy will be remembered for her radiant smile, her kindness, her wit, and her unwavering compassion. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. May she rest in peace.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Wayside Waifs, 3901 Martha Truman Road, Kansas City, MO 64137.
