She was preceded in death by her beloved husband John Hickman and her parents Frank and Geneva Hardy.
Judy was born in Kansas City, MO and graduated from Central High School, Class of 1957. Central High is where she met her husband John Hickman. They were married in 1959 and started their many adventures with John being a life long basketball coach. Their adventures took them from Kansas City, MO to Madison, WI, Carbondale, IL, Lindsborg, KS, Liberty, MO, Pittsburg, KS, Neosho, MO, Pleasant Hill, MO and finally Judy resided at John Knox Village in Lee’s Summit, MO. Judy and John were married 45 years before John’s passing in 2000. Judy was always the strength and resilience to John and kept all of us in line.
Judy went back to school in 1975 and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Education in 1978. She followed her dream of being a elementary school teacher and taught school to many children in all the various towns she lived in before retiring in 2004.
She loved making new friends and played in many bridge groups, joined various Book Clubs, and was a PEO member.
Heaven gained an angel and Judy is now with her John in God’s locker room. She was a best friend to everyone and welcomed all into her world. She was an amazingly strong woman who never complained and kept everyone laughing with her funny sense of humor and quick wit. She loved her grandkids so much and had the most fun with them! As a close friend said, she was everyone’s Judy.
A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held at John Knox Village on January 8, 2022 from 3-6pm in the Manhattan Room, next to Places Restaurant, 1001 NW Chipman Rd, Lee's Summit, MO, 64081.
