Julia "Judy" Dercher

September 29, 1939 – July 1, 2026
Obituary of Julia "Judy" Dercher
IN THE CARE OF

McGilley State Line Chapel

Julia "Judy" Marie Dercher (Lorenz), 86, passed away peacefully on Wednesday July 1, 2026, surrounded by her loving children.

Judy was married to the love of her life, Ray, for 62 years until his passing in 2023. Together, they built a family that was the center of her world. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her faith, family, and friends were the greatest blessings in her life, and she shared her love generously with all who knew her.

Born in Kansas City, Kansas, Judy spent her entire life in the Kansas City area, living for 42 years in Leawood, Kansas, and the last six years in Overland Park. She grew up in St. Peter's Catholic Parish and attended Ward High School and Donnelly College. She was an active member of the Church of the Nativity and participated in numerous organizations and social groups including the Ladies of Charity, Leawood Welcomers, Red Hats, and many card clubs.

Judy is survived by her children: David Dercher of Overland Park, Kansas; Deanna Gish (Doug) of Bucyrus, Kansas; and Jeanine Conrady (David) of Narragansett, Rhode Island, as well as her grandchildren/great grandchildren including: Tiffany Larison (Tyler) and their children, Tate and Talia; Matthew Dercher; Madeline Dercher; Bryan Gish (Alexia); Nathan Gish (Sierra) and their daughter, Evelyn; Natalie Gish; and Paul, Kevin, Grant, and Daniel Conrady.

She also leaves behind several brothers-in-laws and sisters-in-laws and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Judy was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Dercher; her parents, Henry Lorenz and Marie Lorenz; her brother, John Lorenz; her sister, Mary Ann Smart; and her brother-in-law, Joe Pokrywka.

We take comfort in knowing that she is now at peace with Jesus and reunited with Ray and all of her loved ones, undoubtedly enjoying a joyful celebration in heaven.

She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
