Jimmie Waggener, 90, Kansas City, passed away at his home on May 21. Visitation is Wednesday, May 24 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at McGilley Antioch Chapel, 3325 NE Vivion Road, Kansas City. Funeral service is Thursday, May 25, 10:00 AM also at McGilley Antioch Chapel. Burial, with military honors, to follow at New Hope Cemetery, Liberty.
Jimmie was born in Edina, MO on April 2, 1927. He served in the US Navy, and then married Blanche McCarthy on April 21, 1945. During their 72 years together, they built two successful businesses while raising three children. Jimmie owned and operated Jimmie’s Barber Shop and Blanche owned and operated Blanche’s Beauty Shop. In August of 1980, they opened Antioch Lanes in Kansas City North.
Jimmie is preceded in death by daughters Cindy and Barbara, and a grandson, Aaron. Survivors include his loving bride, Blanche of the home; son Dick (Debbie) Waggener; grandchildren, Angie, Jay, Wendy and Ryan; and great-grandchildren Samantha, Zach, Jaaron and Joe.
