

Karen was born on August 30, 1946 at home in Bucklin, Missouri. The daughter of Ole Ray and Ruey Pearl Morris. Karen grew up in church, giving her heart to the Lord at age 4. A special event occurred at age 6; her father gave his heart to the Lord. By age 12 she began teaching Sunday School.
In May of 1964, Karen graduated from Bucklin High School. In September, she enrolled at Central Bible College and graduated on May 28, 1968 with a B.A. in Bible. Later that year she moved to Denver, Colorado. She enrolled at St. Luke's Hospital School of Practical Nursing. Karen Graduated on January 30, 1970 as a licensed Practical Nurse. Later that year she began working at the Denver Teen Challenge as the Girls Counsellor.
In October, she met Wayne Welborn and later they began dating in December. On September 4, 1971 they were married at the Bucklin Assembly of God. Afterwards, they moved to Springfield, Missouri where Wayne enrolled in Central Bible College. Wayne Graduated in 1975 and they both entered their ministerial journey.
They pastored churches in Kentucky, Missouri and Illinois. After 36 years of Pastoral Ministry, Wayne and Karen retired in 2011. Not knowing where they would go, or what they were to do. God blessed them in a mighty way. Their daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Chris Bradley, opened their home and hearts allowing them to move into their home. So, Karen and Wayne moved to Raytown, Missouri in July of 2011. On april 29, 2012, they moved into their new home. Karen resided there until her final home going, one day before their 13th year anniversary in their home.
Karen was preceded in death by her Father and Mother, brother George Morris, and sister Marilyn Coats.
She is survived by her husband Wayne, daughter Amy (Chris) Bradley, son Andrew (Thea) Welborn, foster daughter Gerry Kay Elliott, nephews; Brad Morris, Eddie Morris, Rev. Timothy Coats, and Mike Coats, Nieces; Patty Ann Morris and Cherie Reeves, grand daughters; Madison Bradley and Phoebe Bradley, and grand sons; Kevin Welborn and John Paul Elliott.
Karen was deeply loved by her friends and family, and will be truly missed by all.
A visitation for Karen will be held Saturday, May 10, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Floral Hills Funeral Home and Cemetery, 7000 BLUE RIDGE BLVD, KANSAS CITY, MO 64133.
A funeral service will occur Saturday, May 10, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, 7000 BLUE RIDGE BLVD, KANSAS CITY, MO 64133.
A graveside service will occur Monday, May 12, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Bucklin Masonic Cemetery, Cedar St, Bucklin, MO 64631.
