I was shocked when I learned KATY was KATE but my heart absolutely SANK when I learned WHO KATE WAS, because we were very BEST friends from early grade school at Borderstar elementary school. I NEVER KNEW SHE BECAME THE ICONIC KATE SPADE, I moved to OPKS after 3rd grade. While living on Greenway terrace, I lived there with my Grandparents the Ratcliiffs until then and attending Borderstar we were inseparable, never stopped talking, yes that could be a problem according to teachers🤣🤣🤣,  her smile, personality were infectious and would light up the room! Playing, going to the pool filled summers. I stayed the night at your home a few times, oh what fun we had. I remember Eve and Katy’s Mom but sorrily no other family. Eve, this picture would be close to what I looked like then. May Gods gracious love and healing envelop your precious family and dearest Katy, peace be with you, we were truly two little peas in a pod💜🌺💜🌺

I was shocked to learn of Kate's death. She was a wonderful women with awesome success. I was born in Kansas city and have lived in Arizona since 1986.  She will be dearly missed. I love her bags. Love and Prayers to her daughter. She loved you.  She was struggling with her own illness.  Treasure the memories. 

I am so deeply saddened by the death of Kate spade, one of my favorite designers. I will be wearing a beautiful pink dress she designed this Saturday to my daughters bridal shower, I have so many of her designs. I get so many compliments when I wear her pink handbag. I loved her! We are so very sorry for your loss. Katy and you were always so sweet.  The last time I saw Katy was at one of her shows at Halls in the late 90's and she was signing purses. I was so excited to get my first Kate Spade purse and talk with her. I of course had to remind her that I was Marcia Bisaha, Ann's sister from St. Teresa's and she just laughed and smiled and said of course and we hugged. Thinking of you and your family and sending love and prayers to all of  you.

My Condolences to both the Brosnahan and Spade families !!  I never met Kate, 
but am a family member - Kate's  grandfather is my grandmother's brother !!  Kate's death really gets to me - I lost my twin sister over 4 years ago now, to the same Tragedy !!  Her funeral is being held only a cpl blocks from me - and I am thinking abt going !!  And I want to give the families comfort by telling them that there really is a heaven - I have had contact with my Twin numerous times !!  Proof beyond proof that we never die - just change forms !!  Hugs 

Although I did not know her personally, I am a huge fan of Kate Spade and go there every year to celebrate my birthday, the brand has brought so much joy and happiness to my own life! I thank Katy for her vision and creativity and the joy she has brought to so many. I pray for her family as they begin to heal from her tragic loss and may she rest in peace. 

I just want to say the world has lost an amazing creative  woman. So sad and I want to send condolences to kate family  and friends. Kate thank you for your talents and your beautiful works of art. You have touched so many lives you are one in a million may you be at peace and know how amazing you are.

I only knew Kate through her sharing of her incredible talent, designing handbags, a gift I, and many are grateful for and will miss.  Her beautiful and loving imprint will not be forgotten and I pray for her close family & friends as they grieve a world without her. I will gladly make a donation to her local Kansas City no-kill animal shelter in Kate’s honor. God bless. 

I did not know Kate intimately & only knew her thru the Thompson family. I was a caregiver for Amy Thompson & supporter of Brain Injury research; as a published brain researcher & seasoned healthcare professional. I remember particularly Mary Thompson O’ Connor & Kate Thompson Browne (or other Thompson sibs such as Mark, Tricia or Anne) who helped me organize Amy’s care; around when friends of Amy would visit. Kate was in town 1 particular time but unable to visit. I recall how fondly those friends of  the family  & other St. Teresa/ Rockhurst/Visitation folks always spoke if Kate so lovingly & kindly. She was very beloved by all who knew her & even those not in her intimate circle. She was a very special lady & will be sorely missed.

Prayers and thoughts be with both families.  May time heal your hearts and memories comfort you.

My thoughts and prayers are with the Brosnahan-Spade Family. I didn't know Kate personally but I have been a fan of her designs for a while. In a weird way I felt like I knew her from her designs. I will not ever forget going into the Kate Spade store for the first time and picking out a fabulous handbag. The store was bright, welcoming, and full of wit, which is just how I imagined Kate.  She will always be my favorite inspirational female.

A friend and I decided to attend a meet Kate Spade event at Halls a couple of years ago. Great to meet a celebrity and show our girls that she came from KC. Who we met was very different. She took time to greet us and have a genuine conversation with us while others waited to meet her as well.  Her kind nature and sincerity was truly was inspired us. Not that she was Kate Spade, as we initially thought. Additionally, we met her step mom and Dad in the parking lot. They were as generous to us with their time as Kate.  What a wonderful family. What a wonderful ladie. And one we can call our own. From KC.  We will remember this generosity and the wonderful woman who showed us how to be kind and humble.  We were all sad and shocked to hear the news of Kate’s passing.   Our thoughts are with your family at this time. 

One day in the summer of 1998, I walked into Von Maur Omaha-Nebraska (I just graduated from  Peru State College ( Peru, Nebraska) with my undergraduate degree). I walked over to the purse section and I see the name Kate Spade ♠️ 
I was enchanted and intrigued. The Kate Spade purses were inside a glass circle display. The light glimmered over the purses like glitter ✨✨
This is the moment when I saw “Sam” (the purse), it was the most beautiful thing in fashion that I had ever seen!  I became true fan at that moment❤️.
Unfortunately, I was unable to buy “Sam” due to my college loan and my bills. I have regretted many years for not getting the “Sam” but I was able to purchase a few Kate Spade purses before she sold the company in 2007. 

I will always be internally grateful to Kate Spade because she made me feel like Carrie Bradshaw, a true fashionista! Thank you Kate Spade for your creativity and changing the world of fashion. Plus Kate was from the Midwest like me. Kate is one of my roles models because she was passionate, kind, and lived life colorfully.

My heart goes out to your loved ones ! It was actually on my bucket list to meet you. First time I heard of you was when I saw a pair of 🚕 taxi cab flats. I connected with your style and even phoned in .  I have a table cloth , a backpack, a coffee cup, a small bag, a round cooking pan. And a dish towel and two pair of flip flops and a bangle!  My heart ❤️ is broken and I can’t imagine what happened to someone such as beautiful as you . I know the struggle and I only wish  the outcome had been different for you. No one can comprehend the type of pain you must have felt. I am certain you are resting and pain free with Jesus but it is going to be so hard on your family. I pray they find peace and that God’s grace and Mercy will help your daughter and husband to heal. Katy and I sat next to each other at STA during home room every year.  We’d talk despite Mrs. Adams telling the rest to be quiet and she knew I always carried gum on me, despite it being against school rules.  She was the first friendly, happy face I saw each and every morning. I could tell her anything and she never once repeated a word.  
I was blessed to have known her.
