

Katherine Jianas Ellis, 94, was born November 10, 1917 and fell asleep peacefully in the Lord on Friday, March 23, 2012. She married the love of her life Chris Ellis on June 6, 1937 and together raised their three daughters.
Katherine is preceded in death by her husband Chris Ellis; parents George and Anastasia Varoutas Jianas; and four brothers Pete, Alex, Bill and Gus.
She is survived by her sister Edith Giannios; daughters Margo (Ted) Anastas, Anastasia (Nick) Papadakes, Angie (George) Ramel and many nieces and nephews. Katherine was especially proud of her four grandchildren, four great grandchildren and extended Ramel Family.
Katherine was a special lady and a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be greatly missed. She was a lifelong member of The Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church and member and past President of the Ladies of Philoptochos. Katherine especially enjoyed cooking and entertaining and took great pleasure in her friendships. She volunteered at Menorah Medical Center for 11 years and at the front desk of St. Joseph’s Hospital for 27 years.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 27, 2012 with Trisagion Prayers at 7 p.m. at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Rd., Kansas City, MO 64131. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at The Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 12001 Wornall Rd., Kansas City, MO 64145, with burial in Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to The Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church or Kansas City Hospice House, 12000 Wornall Rd., Kansas City, MO 64145.
