Katherine Matroni

Katherine “Dede” Matroni, 88, Mesa, AZ (formerly of Kansas City), passed away on Friday, January 7, 2011. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 14th at St. Robert Bellarmine, 4313 SW State Route 7, Blue Springs, MO.; entombment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Thursday at McGilley State Line Chapel, 12301 State Line, where a prayer service will be at 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association, P.O. Box 1653, Topeka, KS 66601-1653, or charity of choice.

Katherine was born August 1, 1922, in Kansas City, MO. She graduated from St. Theresa Academy and attended the College of St. Theresa. She married Robert Matroni who preceded her in death. She worked for the Social Security Administration and retired as a supervisor. After retirement she enjoyed playing golf and traveling with her husband, Bob. She also enjoyed all card games, crafts and reading.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and a good friend to many. In her 88 years she aged gracefully with her sweet spirit, positive attitude, and enthusiasm for the gift of each day of life – all things that we will remember.

Survivors include her children, Ann Verlinden (Gerald), Mary Matroni, Kathy Matroni-Mobley (Bob), Denise Matroni (Thom Rakes), Robert Matroni (Nancy); grandchildren Nichole Burns (Brian), Matt and Mike Verlinden, Maureen Matroni-Rakes, Sarah Sandhaus (Eli); and great-grandchildren, Chase, Phoebe and Jack Burns.
