Katherine Meyer was born on September 5, 1936, in Carrollton, Missouri to Don and Pauline Standley. She married John Meyer on January 12th, 1957. Kathy has two daughters, five grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. She also doted on her two cats, Nate and Nora, who she would snuggle up with in the evenings to watch TV.
She enjoyed being able to spend weekdays, before and after school, with her grandkids and took them to various sports practices and rooted for them at their games. She spent vacations travelling out west, showing the country to her grandchildren, and spent the summers and as many weekends as she could at the lake camping and boating. She was a big Chiefs and Royals fan and loved to read and watch movies and decorated her home with pictures of the family and her plants. Having family together was important to her, and she hosted many holiday dinners with the extended family. Besides her family, she loved children and helping them to grow and learn. This passion for children led her to become a preschool teacher for many years.
Kathy is survived by her daughter Jackie Meyer, daughter Kimberly Bridges (Allen); five grandchildren, Marissa Meyer (Jordan Yuan), Dillon Meyer (Ashley), Rachel Meyer, Nathan Hanners, and Amelia Hanners, and great grandchildren Liam MacMillan, Aurora MacMillan, Harper Meyer, Eleanor Meyer-Yuan, and Elaina Meyer. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, John; their son John Jr and her brother Tommy and sister Diane.
She was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
