Katherine (Tia Katy) Villegas, 92, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away peacefully on June, 27, 2022. Katherine was born on March 22, 1930 in Kansas City, Missouri (West Side) to Aquilino and Tomasa Villegas. She worked for many years as a meat packer, retiring from Burnett Meat. After retirement she went to work for Coopers Laboratory before retiring for a second time. Katherine was a devout Catholic and loved being with family. She enjoyed music, traveling and dancing. She loved going to the casino and playing the slots. She referred to the casinos as “the stingy bird”. She enjoyed getting her hair and nails done and going to lunch with family. She also found joy in taking trips to Our Lady of the Snows.
She was preceded in death by her parents; 5 brothers, Louis, Daniel, Ricardo, John, Anthony; 2 sisters, Mary Ann and Antonia. She leaves behind her brother, Raphael Villegas (Gloria); two sisters, Teresa Pedroza (Robert), Rose Martinez; two sister-in-laws, Mary and Maria Villegas. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, whom she loved as her own children calling each of them “her favorite”. She also leaves many cousins who she loved dearly. She will be missed by all of her family and leaves us with those words she often said, “I love you muncho, muncho, muncho and forever and ever". We will always carry her memories in our hearts. In her final days she made sure we all knew how much she loved us. Our family would like to thank all the caregivers who helped us with keeping her comfortable.
