Kathern Lorrene Mackey, was born March 30, 1959 and passed away April 21.2014 at her home in Belton surrounded by family and friends. Kathern, went by Katy, and was also lovingly referred to as the “Mom of West Belton.”
Katy is survived by her husband John, two sons William and Jeffrey and one step daughter Kimberly all of Belton. She also leaves her mother Lennie Mahurin of Kansas City, six brothers, William of Kansas City, Virgel of Appleton City, James, David, Donald and DeWayne all of Independence, five sisters, Linda of Excelsior Springs, Mary of Independence, Rose of Kansas City, Teresa of Blue Springs and Cheryl of Kansas City. Katy had seven grandchildren Aria, Makayla, Alexis, Katlin, Dylan, Billy and Mylee. A large number of nieces and nephews and a ton of friends.
Katy is preceded in death by her dad, William Mahurin in 2011, two sons James Monroe in 1999 and James Robert in 1977.
Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. followed by funeral services at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 25, at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road. Burial in Mt. Moriah Cemetery.
