Kay spent the first part of her career at Hallmark Cards where she met her husband, Carl Nord of Kansas City. Kay and Carl were married on January 6, 1973. They had two children: Christian (1980) and Darcy (1983). Kay was also the proud Nana to four grandchildren: Wyatt (2006), Graham (2008), Taylor Kay (2014) and Maggie Ann (2019).
Kay’s friends and family loved her for her ornery attitude. She did not reserve pranks for April Fools. Any day was a good day for a prank. Kay possessed an unforgettable smile. She loved her Mizzou Tigers and was not shy about sharing her opinion of the Jayhawks. She put others above herself more often than not. Kay had a reputation for being a great gift giver and was at the same time very hard to shop for. Kay was known as Nana to her grandkids. She spoiled her grandkids, just like her children and everyone was fine with it. Kay will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
