Keyai La’Sha Hatten was naturally beautiful and had a smile that made you want to return the warmth that radiated from it. She was welcomed into this world on April 1, 1972 to the union of Joe C. Kirk, Sr. and Patricia A. Kirk in Kansas City, Missouri. Keyai was born four months premature to her due date and made a dramatic entrance when she was born early on an unusually snowy Easter Sunday, establishing her intention early on in life to live by her own rules and by her own timeline. She married Julius Hatten, the love of her life, on August 12, 2002. To this union, two remarkable children were born; Sha’La DaShawn Kurdoll Hatten and Rasheed Armone Hatten.
Keyai loved the Lord and was baptized at an early age at Peace Baptist Church. She was educated in the Raytown school district and graduated from Raytown South High School in 1990. Keyai earned her Associate’s degree from Penn Valley Community College, as well as became a licensed cosmetologist. Keyai went on to earn her bachelor’s degree from DeVry Institute of Technology and worked in the field of information technology. She also owned two businesses, TuSha Designs and TuSha Bodycare.
Keyai passed away on Saturday, January 1, 2022. Keyai was preceded in death by her grandparents and her son, Rasheed Armone Hatten. She leaves to cherish her memory Julius Hatten (husband), Sha’La Hatten (daughter), Tysan Hatten (stepson) Joe C. and Patricia Ann Kirk (parents), Charlotte Hatten (mother-in-law), sisters Antionetta (Marvin) Jones and Tammecca (Donald) Maxwell, brother Joe (Monique) Kirk, sister-in-law Phyllis Green, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
