Kim was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Jacquelyn Cook and her nephew Matthew Stabler.
Kim was born May 3, 1948 in Akron, Ohio, the oldest of three daughters to Bob and Jackie. The family moved to her “hometown” of Kansas City, Missouri. Kim graduated from Bishop Hogan High School in 1966 and still frequently got together with the “Hogan girls”, her group of friends from high school. She attended UMKC, then married James Horn in 1969. Soon after she had her two daughters Katie and Holly. Kim stayed home to raise her family, and then began a lifelong career with the Girl Scouts. She retired in October 2020 after 35 years.
Kim enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially her beloved daughters and grandchildren. She was passionate about genealogy and spent many hours researching family history. Kim loved working in her garden, breakfasts with her sisters, traveling and spending time with her cousins. Kim cherished her time with her girls and their families in Florida and at the lake. Kim was an avid Kansas City Royals and Chiefs fan and enjoyed watching games with her family and friends. She is dearly loved by everyone who knew her and will be truly missed.
Kim is survived by her daughter Katie Johnson and her husband Scott; her daughter Holly Gunter and her husband Ken; her grandchildren Nick and Nina Gunter; her grandchildren Molly and Henry Johnson; her sisters CeCe Stabler and her husband Mike; Kris Beery and her husband Randy. Kim also leaves behind many adored nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Services will be at St. Thomas More 11822 Holmes Rd., Kansas City, MO on Saturday, April 24th. Rosary will be at 9:30 am with Mass of Christian Burial following at 10 am.
