Kimberly, daughter of the late Robert James Hastings and Diana Louise (Reed) Hastings, was born February 4,1977, in Kansas City, Missouri.
She grew up as the baby sister to Christopher Hastings and the family settled in Independence, Missouri. Attending William Chrisman High School, she enjoyed playing the viola in band, camping as a girl scout, and getting physical with basketball and softball.
Kimberly, from her earliest years, was a social butterfly and spitfire who enjoyed all that life offers and desired to share her joy with those around her. The sparkle of those big blue eyes and genuine warm smile always drew those around her close and all those blessed to know her saw she was present, in that moment, enjoying the time shared with them.
She followed that love and dedicated her life to sharing her talents and time with those around her. Initially attending Jones Beauty School as she worked as a CNA, she quickly decided to shift professions fully into healthcare. Attending nursing school to earn her LPN, she was surrounded by friends and family celebrating her pinning. Over 20 years, she shared her unique love and light with those in their most vulnerable times at the Medical Center of Independence, Centerpoint, and even served as a Visiting Angel with home services.
While she cared for people easily, her true loves were her three children and family. Ravyn, Zack, and Conner West always were the grounding joys that brought light into her life and kept her heart warm as a mother. She loved them fiercely as only a mama bear can, and her sister-in-law, Shea Hastings, is grateful that she shared her babies with the family. Her late father, mother, and brother were truly blessed and remain forever grateful for the beauty and life she shared.
Kimberly cherished animals. The innocence and unconditional love from her pets made them part of her family. She loved her vacations, with her maternal grandmother, Donna Reed, and mom, to the warm climates of Florida and Hawaii - the sun complimented her smile. Holidays with friends and family always excited her and she’d be the first to decorate or think up a fun theme. Board games like Bingo always showed her to be a competitor and lazy float trips with her girlfriend support group were a favorite.
Kimberly, loving the Lord, listened to His call, and passed from this life into the next on July 26, 2026, at the age of 49 in Stilwell, Kansas. Her memory will be cherished by many friends and family including her children: Ravyn, Zack, and Conner West; her mother: Diana Hastings; her brother: Chris Hastings; her sister-in-law: Shea Hastings; her niece and nephew: Candra and Bryan Hastings; with many other family members and life-long friends.
The family thanks you all for the love shared. A brief graveside service for Kim will be held Friday, August 7, 2026, 2:00 PM, at Mount Moriah Cemetery South, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, MO 64131.
