Koto "Kay" Louise DeLoyht

Kay was born on July 25, 1934, and raised near the Strawberry Hill community in Kansas City, Kansas. She attended Bishop Ward High School and later graduated from Bishop Lillis High School in Kansas City, Missouri.

Kay married Thomas DeLoyht. Together, they made their homes in Kansas City, Missouri; Arizona; the Lake of the Ozarks; and Lee’s Summit, Missouri. Kay and Tom shared many happy years traveling and enjoying some of their favorite things together—music, reading, movies, and especially attending Kansas City Symphony concerts.

Music held a special place in Kay’s life. A talented pianist, she had a lifelong appreciation for music and the joy it could bring.

More than anything, Kay loved her family and friends. She was especially proud of her three sons and treasured her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Time spent with those she loved brought her great happiness, and the memories they made together will be cherished for years to come.

Kay is survived by her three sons, Brad (Rhonda) Nill of Kansas, Bart (Cynthia) Nill of Kansas, and Mark (Donna) Nill of Texas; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Rose “Sally” (Kasick) Brown and Roy “Doc” Brown, and her husband, Thomas DeLoyht.

Kay’s family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the caring staff at Foxwood Springs Senior Living and Ascend Hospice for the kindness, compassion, and support they provided to Kay and her family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Kay’s memory to Prince of Peace Catholic School in Olathe, Kansas.
