Larry Eugene Barber, 68, passed away on October 1, 2023, in Kansas City, Missouri. Larry was born on May 6, 1955 in Hiawatha, Kansas. He was a software engineer for multiple government contractors throughout his career.
Growing up as an Air Force dependent, Larry lived all over the world. From Hiawatha, Kansas, he lived in Germany, then Denver, Colorado. From there, he moved to Fairbanks, Alaska, then to Mountain Home, Idaho. After earning his degree at the University of Idaho, Larry moved to Everett, Washington. He returned to the midwest in the early 1990's and made Kansas City his home.
Larry had a deep love of animals, especially dogs that he rescued. He dedicated his time and energy to helping those in need and was always ready to lend a hand to a friend. In recent years, he became passionate about climate change and social injustice, making them his chief concerns.
Larry is survived by his mother, Lois Barber, his sister, Jackie Barber (David Moore), his nephew Tristan Moore, niece Addie Moore, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Barber.
Larry obtained a BS degree in Engineering and an MS degree in Engineering from the University of Idaho. He was a dedicated learner and always sought to expand his knowledge in various areas of interest.
Larry will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched. His kindness, generosity, and commitment to making the world a better place will be remembered and cherished.
Larry worshipped at Jacob's Well Church in Kansas City. A service to celebrate his life will be held on Friday, October 13th, at Jacob's Well Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to an animal rescue group in Larry's memory or to Jacob's Well Church.
