Larry was born on January 14, 1954 in Kansas City, MO to parents Steven and Ruth (Coleman) Smith. He graduated Excelsior Springs High School in 1972. After high school, Larry went to work for Burlington Northern Railroad where he worked until his retirement in 2014. He met Shirley Johnson in 1974 and they were married on April 29, of 1976. They spent 44 years together until his death.
Some of Larry’s favorite pastimes included Fishing and spending time with his son and grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his father; and one brother, Garry Lee Smith.
He leaves behind his wife; son, Garry (Leslie) Earl Smith; grandchildren, Gage (Alyssa) Patrick, Kalup (Megan) Patrick, Joseph Holmes, Steven Smith, and Troy Smith; and 4 great-grandchildren to cherish his memory
