Laura the Great - a self-coined moniker that was fitting. I consider myself lucky to have worked with Laura, she brought a smile and a laugh everywhere she went. She will be missed by many; may she rest in peace.

Her parents Carolyn L. (Crispin) and Richard D. Schilling passed in 1989 and 1988, respectively and her maternal grandfather Walter Ray Crispin passed in 1971. Laura’s cremated remains will be interred next to her ex-husband Mark who passed in 2012 and dispersed along the Gulf Coast of Florida among sharks, her most favorite creature.

Laura Beth (Schilling) Hudson, 58 years, passed peacefully January 11, 2021 with her beloved girls at her bedside. Laura was born in Kansas City, Missouri April 1962 and adopted by Carolyn L. (Crispin) and Richard D. Schilling. She lived nearly her entire life in the Kansas City area, attending Red Bridge Elementary School and Center Senior High School, graduating in 1980. One of her favorite memories was grilled steaks brought by her visiting grandfather each Sunday. She always had a smile on her face and was a devoted fan of the band Rush. She studied graphic arts at Central Missouri State University for two years then spent her career in the printing industry primarily in Spring Hill and Olathe, Kansas as an artist, printer operator and many positions in the industry. She married Timothy Mark Hudson in 1987 and they had two girls. Laura fulfilled her dream of living in Florida later in life working as a personal care attendant with her daughter Layla for a couple of years for homebound elders along the Gulf Coast. This work was most meaningful to Laura, allowing her to share her innate kindness and compassion with those most in need. Upon return to Shawnee, she drove disabled clients to medical appointments for Johnson County Mental Health. In the last years of her life, Laura rekindled her faith and was comforted by the Bible she kept next to her lounger. She was in the process of finding a church for regular attendance. 
The family was comforted by the excellent and compassionate, family-focused care of ICU nurses, medical staff, surgeons, palliative care team, and chaplains at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission (Shawnee Mission Medical Center). 
She leaves her precious daughters Layla and Jamie Hudson of Lawrence, Kansas and her brother Dr. Brian D. Schilling (wife Silvia and daughter Gabriella) of Anchorage, Alaska and life-long friends.
