LaVerne “Luvy” Jeanette Riedi passed away on Sunday September 6th in Overland Park, Kansas. She was the daughter of Anna and Waldo Borgelt and the matriarch of a huge family with 12 children, three step-children, and her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a loving mother, wife, sister, aunt, and friend.
She was co-owner of the La Bonne Auberge Restaurant and spent many years working at Jaspers. She was well known in the Kansas City restaurant scene as well as the Kansas City Swiss Society. LaVerne married Gus Riedi in 1983. She and Gus enjoyed 38 happy years together until his death in 2021. LaVerne was also preceded in death by her 4 siblings (Frances Sloop, Evelyn Borgelt, Roger Borgelt and Clark Borgelt).
LaVerne leaves behind her 12 children, many cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and legacy of love, humor, and resilience.
