June 11, 1959...a six year old is anticipating what he would receive for his birthday, a new dump truck or cap guns or maybe a bow & arrow set with suction cups. What did I get? Lenny Baumgardner! Through the years he was the one gift that no matter how hard I played with it(him), I couldn't break it. I'm certain I tried. We spent many years together and, due to life's circumstances, too many years apart. Most of the time we tried to "one-up" each other with silliness. He got me—I got him—and he generally won the battles. I can only suppose that the good Lord needed an accent wall, or wanted someone to wire speakers to the patio to listen to Styx or debate George Carlin's humor. I cannot express how much I will miss him. There's never enough time. He loved life, his children & grandchildren and the simplest things in life. Looking forward to seeing you again. LOVE YOU BROTHER!

Unfortunately I hadn’t seen Lenny in several years. Time passes so fast but memories live on. I met Lenny when I was a teenager. He didn’t much care for me at first. Called me devious! Overtime we hit it off. He was a few years older than me but we had the same sense of humor. Hanging out with the whole gang of friends and having some serious fun parties and doing some flat out stupid things made life pretty dang fun and Lenny was just fun to be around. I was fortunate to have reached out to him a few months back through Facebook. It was nice to reconnect as older men. I’m certainly glad we did! Even though I hadn’t seen him in years , losing an long ago close friend still hurts! I still have the memories. I hope his family feels the comfort of his spirit and carries on his humor!
