He grew up in Kansas City, and went to Southwest High School, and he loved sports and played lineman on the varsity football team. He graduated high school in 1952. Afterwards, he went to Central Missouri State University and played football for one year.
After going to work at GM Plant in Fairfax Kansas, in 1957 he was drafted into the Army and served in the 71st ordinance group in Pirmasens Germany. Upon completing his duty, he returned to work at General Motors Leeds Plant and after 30 plus years of service he retired in 1987.
He was a lifetime fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals and an avid gardener with a green a thumb. It didn’t stop there he also loved canning tomatoes, cucumbers, green beans and freezing strawberries, green beans, and filling the cellar with onions and potatoes. He also loved growing flowers and yes big sunflowers. Like every Gieringer he loved to play cards, pitch, poker, and to pass time by himself playing Solitaire, which he won many times.
He loved God and family and always reminded his friends and family, “I love you”.
