Leonard S. Ellis, Sr. passed away at his home Saturday, August 8, 2015. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. followed by funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 13, at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Rd. Burial in Mt. Moriah Cemetery.
Mr. Ellis was born June 3, 1922 in Kansas City, KS, son of Charles R. and Golda (Hatfield) Ellis. After serving as a U.S. Marine during WWII he married and lived in Kansas City, MO for the rest of his life. He retired from the Ford Motor Plant and was a member of UAW Local 249.
He was preceded in death by his wife Nell in 2004. Mr. Ellis is survived by his sons Leonard S. Ellis, Jr. (Susan) and Robert Ellis (Pamela), three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Leonard was a great Dad, husband, grandfather and great-grandfather and friend. A sweet caring and giving man with a warm smile who enjoyed weekly Sunday dinners with family, watching football, and meeting friends for breakfast at McDonald’s. He was deeply loved and will be truly missed.
