Leslie Nevin Lewis Jr., 85, of Blue Springs was born March 15th, 1936 in Kansas City, the son of Leslie Lewis Sr. and Thelma Lewis (Howe). He departed this life, Saturday, June 4th 2021 at the Parkway Senior Living Center in Blue Springs.
Les was a graduate of East High School, class of 1955.He Served in the U.S. Navy from 1955-1959
On January 15, 1960 he was united in marriage to Helen Louise Pellow in Kansas City.
Les joined the Kansas City Police Department in 1961 and retired in 1989. He loved law enforcement and was extremely proud of his work. During his time on the force he worked as a patrolmen, spent the majority of his career as a homicide detective and also worked internal affairs and the special investigations unit. He enjoyed the outdoors and participated in activities such as camping, hiking, water skiing, scuba diving and boating. He loved the Kansas City Chiefs and many family gathering revolved around watching or going to the games together. He enjoyed a beautiful life with Helen, Dean and Debbie. He absolutely loved the company of the grandkids and great grandchildren. He was fortunate to be able to spend a lot of time with all of them.
He is survived by his wife Helen of the home, son, Dean (and Cathy) Lewis of Lees Summit, daughter, Debbie (and Mike) Julian of Blue Springs; five grandchildren, Caleb (and Caley) Lewis of New York, Justin (and Vanna) Lewis of Pleasant Hill, Jeremy Howell of Blue Springs, Emily (and Dean) Baker of Blue Springs, Kinser (and Heather) Diebold of Blue Springs, Tanya (and Quinn) White of Raytown; nine great grandchildren, Nola, Nina, Brantley, Nolan, Sophia, Layne, Ciarah, Devin and Royal.
Les was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Eva McCully.
