Lillie Terrell Leick, age 96, died on March 11, 2011 at Kansas City Hospice House after a short illness. She was born in her grandmother's house in Frankfort, Kentucky on July 22, 1914 to Lawrence and Lida Wood. She grew up in Glendale, Missouri, with her brothers, Lewis and Larry. She graduated from Kirkwood (MO) High School in 1931 and from Centre College, Danville, Kentucky in 1935. She then attended secretarial school and went to work for a law office in St. Louis. She married Charles Leick, attorney, in 1938, and moved to Kansas City in 1945, and later to Prairie Village in 1957, and then in 1981, to the Edelweiss Community in Merriam. Her last two years were in Armour Oaks in Kansas City. She worked for Martin J. Fromm as a bookkeeper and secretary until 1965, and then as bookkeeper for Bernard M. Abrams, M.D. until her retirement at age 77. She supported all four children through college. Her loves in life were her children, grandchildren, and great grand children, world travels with her sisters-in-law, and playing in bridge groups. There were always pets in the house, including dogs, cats, ducks, rabbits and "Hoppy" the squirrel. She was a member of Westport and Village Presbyterian Churches and of PEO of Kansas City, Kansas. She is survived by her four children: Jeanne Reiss, M.D. (Rev. Scott Myers), of Kansas City, Missouri, Robert Leick (Janet), of Deephaven, Minnesota, Roger Leick (Marlene), of Burnsville, Minnesota, and Mary Kay Leick-Rude (Phil Rude), of Overland Park, Kansas; four grandchildren: Robert Leick, Karen Leick, Raleigh Leick, and Adria Godfrey; four great grandchildren, three nieces, and a nephew. "She was resilient, honest, non- judgmental, independent, savvy and frugal. She was playing bridge and scrabble to the end and even won her last game. She will be greatly missed. She was such an enormous part of all our lives." A memorial service and reception will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, April 4, at Village Presbyterian Church, 6401 Mission Road, in the chapel.
