Linda Marie Shanahan

Linda Marie (Johnston) Shanahan of Blue Springs, Missouri, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2025, at Ignite Medical Resort St. Mary’s, after years of courageously battling Alzheimer’s and dementia.

Linda was born on September 8, 1945, in Louisville, Kentucky. She was a devoted caregiver, mom, loving grandmother, great-grandmother, and loyal sister. She was full of sass and spunk and always had a smile to share. For many years, she lovingly cared for a group home of handicapped children, dedicating her life to helping others. She retired from Toys " R " Us.

Linda was an avid movie watcher and a proud homemaker. Her greatest accomplishment was her family, who brought her immense pride and joy. Other highlights of her life included learning to drive, achieving independence, purchasing her home, and living a life of fulfillment.

She was preceded in death by Mildred Russell (mom), Lenard Johnston (dad), Margaret Ann Johnston (stepmom), and Koree Lauren Shanahan ( great granddaughter).

She is survived by her children John Michael Shanahan of Oak Grove Missouri (Jennifer, Briana, Allie, Payton, Khloe, and families). Zachariah Scott Shanahan of Oak Grove Missouri (Lashawn, Sarah, Zach, Nathan, Taylor, Cole, Susana and families). Jason Brian Shanahan of Blue Springs Missouri ( Brayson, Lili, Emy and families). Carol Skinner(sister) Duane and families of Lee's Summit Missouri

A visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m. followed by a service at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 10, 2025, at D.W. Newcomer’s Sons Floral Hills Funeral Home, Kansas City, Missouri.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America in memory of Linda Marie Shanahan.
