Linden Dean Tattershall, affectionately known as “Dean”, was born August 8, 1928 in Hamilton, Missouri and passed away August 31, 2018. He was the third child born to Charles Houghton and Mary Amanda Alexander Tattershall.
As a teenager, Dean and his family relocated to Kansas City, Missouri, he attended Manual Tech and Central High School.
While in Kansas City, Dean met the love of his life, Anna Darlene Crain, they were married March 26, 1949, to this union 5 children were born. October 29, 1951, Dean enlisted in the United States Navy and worked as an Aircraft Engine Mechanic until he was honorably discharged from his station at Chase NSA in Beeville, Texas on October 28, 1955. He then moved back to Kansas City with his family, there they attended Evangel Temple Church.
In 1989 he and his wife moved to Odessa, Missouri, where they lived for many years and attended New Life Assembly Church in Oak Grove, Missouri, until their final relocation to Lee’s Summit, Missouri, in March 2018. Dean worked production jobs with Byrd & Fletcher printing and Western Container Corporation until he retired at the age of 85. It was with regret that he retired but the Multiple Myeloma he was being treated for required more aggressive treatment. The cancer center nurses treated him with special attention so he called them “his angels”. He didn’t lose his sense of humor in his declining health. “One liners” would escape when least expected. His goal was to attend his 90th birthday party and that he did on August 8, 2018. The nurses and CNAs commented that he was a very polite and funny.
Dean was a hand man and enjoyed tractors, airflows, model trains, reading, building bird houses, locksmithing, tinkering and fixing whatever needed to be fixed. Over the years he was involved in youth groups such as YMCA, Indian Guides and Royal Rangers of the Assembly of God denomination. He loved attending church and helping where he could in places like: teaching 6th grade Sunday school, operating the sound system for church services, and transporting the elderly on Sunday mornings to and from services by van. He shared the message of Salvation and took every opportunity to invite all he came in contact with to spend Eternity with him in heaven.
