L.D. Hoyt, 74, Kansas City, MO, passed away November 17, 2012 at Centerpoint Medical Center. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, November 23, with funeral services at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 24, at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Rd. Burial in Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa, KS. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ararat Shrine Telemedicine Room, 5100 Ararat Drive, Kansas City, MO 64129. Mr. Hoyt was born August 13, 1938 in Ames, OK, son of Lloyd Marshall and Lena Leon (Strain) Hoyt. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, maintaining B-52 Bombers. He retired from Western Electric as an electrical engineer. He assisted with the development of the first lunar module. Mr. Hoyt was a member of the Ararat Shrine and the Masonic Lodge. He was an avid Chiefs fan, enjoyed riding motorcycles and traveling. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his daughter Carmen Letcher, her husband Micky, and their children Brian and Colin of Olathe, KS; son Curtis Hoyt, his wife Jennnifer, and their children Lindsay and Ryan of Olathe, KS; brothers Derril Hoyt of Oklahoma and Floyd Hoyt and wife Marilyn of Colorado; sisters Phyllis Ingram of Texas and Connie Beuerlein and husband Alan of Arizona; extended family and friends.
