

Lois Noreen Anderson (Skutley), a beloved artist and lifelong learner, passed away on September 10, 2024, at the age of 99. Born on April 6, 1925, Lois lived a rich and creative life that touched many through her art and her generous spirit.
Lois was a graduate of Beloit High School, class of 1943, and went on to earn her Bachelor of Arts degree from Beloit College in 1947, majoring in French with a minor in Art History. This educational foundation laid the groundwork for her enduring passion for the arts.
A talented and prolific artist, Lois was an active member of several prestigious organizations, including the Greater Kansas City Art Association, the MidAmerica Pastel Society, and the Senior Arts Council. Her artistic talent was recognized through numerous awards, and she expertly wielded various mediums such as oil, watercolor, and pastel. Lois found joy in painting a wide array of subjects, from portraits and landscapes to still lifes, with a particular affinity for floral compositions.
Lois's artistic legacy extends beyond gallery walls; she touched countless lives through her personalized, hand-painted greeting cards, which became cherished keepsakes for friends and family. Her vibrant approach to life and art will continue to inspire those who knew her and those who encounter her work.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Boyd Emil Anderson; sister, Lavonne Skutley; brother, Duane "Pete" Skutley; mother, Fern V. Skutley (LaTour); and father, Arthur O. Skutley. Lois is survived by her brother-in-law, Roger M. Howard; daughter, Leah M. Velasquez (Anderson) and son-in-law, Anthony A. Velasquez; granddaughter, Nassim M. Dunkin and grandson-in-law, Jimmy Dunkin; grandsons, Daniel S. Velasquez and Jonathan F. Velasquez; and great-grandsons, Jaxon and Landon Dunkin.
Lois Noreen Anderson will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and the artistic community she so passionately supported. Her legacy lives on through her artwork and the love she shared with all who knew her.
