She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Duquesne University in 1952. Following graduation, she married George Beres in 1953, who was a 2nd Lieutenant in the Air Force. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary before his death in 2013.
Lois was a member of St. Regis Church, TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly), NARFE (National Association of Retired Federal Employees) as she worked at the IRS as a Tax Examiner for over 20 years; and the Serra Club of South KC. In all these organizations, she was always willing to assume a position of leadership and service.
Lois was a talented seamstress and artist; she loved old musicals, especially “The Music Man”. People will remember her for her kind, gentle ways. She was an amazing person who never said anything bad about anyone – and was always there to help everyone. She was a good listener and a good friend. The world is a better place because she was in it. Lois is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Helen Steimer; and sister-in-law, Nancy Toomey.
