Lois Pauline Schockweiler was a loving, caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She left this world on January 10, 2022 at age 90. She was born to Minnie Mary Pauline and Chester Arthur Scott in Worthington, Minnesota. After graduating from high school, she left to chase her dreams to be a registered nurse. She completed her nursing degree at The Swedish Hospital School of Nursing in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
During her nursing training, one of her friends set her up on a blind date with Roland Schockweiler. They fell in love and married a year later in February of 1953. It was a love that would last 69 years. They had one devoted daughter, Mary.
Lois would be active as a nurse until her retirement in 1986. During her career, she took a special interest in helping the needs of psychiatric patients during her tenure with several state hospitals. She recognized early on the special needs of these patients and dedicated herself to their care. Lois had great faith in her savior Jesus Christ, and always tried to apply his teachings to her life.
Her main interests were her family and career, but she also had special skills for crocheting and would participate in archery and golf events with her family. She also had a deep appreciation for music that began early in her life while learning to play the piano and French horn. Lois was not one to be easily fooled by those around her and had a quick, and sometimes biting wit. You would want to be well prepared if you were to verbally spar with her. Also unique in her life was her approach to exercise: buy workout equipment, then quickly store it where it would not be used again.
Lois is survived by her husband, Roland, daughter Mary, son-in-law, Phil Beard, granddaughters Lauren Klostermann (Andrew) and Ashley Smith (Ken), and great grandchildren Hudson Klostermann and Ella Smith. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to your local mental health agencies.
Lois was greatly loved and will be sorely missed…
