Lonnie was the second of five children born to Wallace and Evelyn Lucille (Keeton) Moore. He grew up in Osceola, Missouri on the family farm where he learned the value of hard work and developed a love for all things outdoors: animals, hunting, gardening, and fishing. After high school, at 19, Lonnie left Osceola to join the U.S. Air Force. He completed mechanical and equipment repair training in Chanute, Illinois and later moved to Evereaux-Faiville Airbase in France. He served in Libya, Germany, Iran and India before being called back to the family farm in 1963 on a family hardship leave. During this leave he lost his left eye when a piece of metal pierced it while splitting barrel staves. As a result he was given an honorable military medical discharge.
While hospitalized for his eye injury, Lonnie met the love of his life, Patty Hinken. They were married in 1964 and remained together for 61 years, until his death. Together, they raised three daughters Michele, Paula, and Elishia in Grandview, Missouri where they attended New Vision Christian Center. When he was asked towards the end of his days what his proudest accomplishment was, he said it was his family.
Lonnie had a 42 year career as the lead maintenance engineer for Tower Properties in Kansas City, Missouri (1965-2007). He took great care in maintaining the Commerce Bank building downtown and truly cared for the people he worked with as well.
Lonnie was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Jerry Moore, and his sister, Sue Swartz. He leaves behind his wife, Patty, his daughters: Michele Worth, Paula (David) Hutchison, and Elishia Moore as well as a sister, Betty Wiles, a brother, Robert (Becky) Moore, six grandchildren: Austin, Chase, Logan, Samuel, Ethan and Emry and two great-grandchildren, Elliana and Ava.
His friendship, love and generous spirit will be missed by many.
