Loretta Mae - Came this far by Faith.
Born one pound, with twin sister, Lazetta (deceased), on November 23, 1938, to praying parents James and Ava Lee Hibler of Kansas City, Kansas. She was the older sister to brother Donald (deceased), sister Gayla Sue (deceased), Rudinia, Lurline, and Phyllis, and sister in-love Tammy.
She birthed a daughter; Sherrie and from her heart came daughters Venita, Deborah, and Verice, and grandson, Ryan. Her many nieces, nephews, and many grand-nieces and nephews fondly called her "Auntie Lo". To the one niece she was “Auntie TeTe”. When she became Mrs. Anthony (Richard, deceased), she was gifted two daughters, Cynthia and Tina.
Loretta loved her many cousins who reside in Seattle, Kansas, Missouri, Texas, Georgia and the East Coast.
To Loretta, family and friends were very important. Whoever it was, she would pray thanks for their success and triumphs over their mishaps.
Loretta's faithfulness to her spiritual growth was maintained from attending First A.M.E. Church until adulthood, then joined Ward Chapel in Kansas City, Missouri. And when she moved to Topeka, Kansas she became a member of St. John's A.M.E. Church.
Loretta's passion for cooking continued after her retirement of 38 years as a Lead Food Service Supervisor from St. Luke's Hospital. Preparing meals was her joy and purpose. She took delight when she was asked to make some dish. She was so exact on how much seasoning, how to mix, the correct temperature and even the type of dish to cook and serve in. At a restaurant she was know to taste her meal and describe the spices, or lack of, and confidently state she could have made it much better. Those who enjoyed her rolls proclaimed her “Queen of homemade dinner rolls”!
She always found comfort and believed in the Serenity Prayer.
Please remember Loretta's goodbye, "See you when I see you, catch you on the rebound."
