Lori Lynn Darr-Lakey, 54, Kansas City, MO, passed away July 5, 2022. Visitation is 10:00-11:00 AM Saturday, July 9th, with Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Kansas City, MO. Those who know Lori knew what an animal lover she was. The family suggests contributions to the K.C. Pet Project, Friends of Parkville Animal Shelter, or an animal shelter of your choice.
Lori worked at the Federal Regulations Bureau, Bob Allen Chevrolet and the following establishments: Hitters, Shooters, Chip Shot. Lori greeted everyone with a big smile and warm hug. She was very generous, giving Christmas gifts to her many customers. Her smile and style lit up any room she entered. Lori was a beautiful person, inside and out; and lived life to its fullest. She and her husband, Jim, traveled extensively to Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Florida, California, and cruises, and of course, Las Vegas. She loved to entertain at her home, especially her annual pool parties. Lori was an avid concertgoer, her favorite being Motley Crue.
Survivors include her husband of 25 years, Jim, who loved and adored her; and his children, Jimi Lakey, Jill Brown, and Alex Carnes; three grandchildren, Janet Lakey, Jaxon Brown, Jameson Brown; and brother-in-law, Gary Lakey. Survivors also include uncle and aunt, Dale and Cathy Darr, and their children, Dylan and Derek Darr; and aunt Diane Gould and her husband, Pat, and their children, Grant and Jarod. Also, Lori is survived by the children of her deceased uncle Mark Darr, Bailey Kretsinger and Bryan Darr. Lori is also survived by her best friend of 25 years, Sheila Lair. They worked, traveled, shopped, laughed and smiled together.
Lori was preceded in death by her father Neil Darr, her mother Karen Hughes, and her uncle Mark Darr.
She will be missed by many especially her adoring husband, Jim. Her passing will leave an empty spot in many lives.
